Andy came to me with the goal of dropping 10kg of weight. We did that. I broke his goal down into small achievable wins every week, as well as improving his knowledge with training, nutrition, recovery and mental fitness.
After losing this foundational level of weight / body fat, Andy is ready to go into the muscle building phase. If he stays as consistent with his nutrition and training (as he was in the weight loss phase), I am certain he'll starting building some quality lean muscle.

Great day out! at @depotmanchester spent 3 hours plus here for the first time and loved it.
It's important to get out of your comfort zone and start things as a beginner.
Being coached and motivated through things (in this case by my friends today) helped me to push past failed attempts and succeed.
When I thought I couldn't do it and lacked confidence, I was raised up and completed the job.
This has given me a new perspective when it comes to coaching my own clients.
And it's drawn me to the conclusion that coaching can create confidence in people.

Running 16k up a mountain was out of my comfort zone.
I am not the runner I once was in the army, and this was the first time I ran over 8 miles in about 10 years.
However it's only through challenge that your soul feels peace.
As we get older we need to train smart but RECOVER SMARTER. I don't train like I did in my 20's compared to now in my 40's) - I'm actually 39, 40 in October 🤣
That means mobility work BEFORE the race and deep stretching AFTER it. It also means fuelling your body correctly 🥑🍝. Not that long ago id have had a drink to 'celebrate', but that would have made my recovery terrible and make me feel like shit the next day eh @dsharples83 😉)
Taking cold dips, meditation, hydrating properly and early nights (see photo of me wearing eye mask, ear buds and sleep tape 🤣)
All contribute to an excellent recovery plan.
(I was mocked for doing this 🤣 but I'm not the one who felt sore all over the next day).

Why meditate? To become more present. What is presence? Presence is ALL there truly is. Let me explain.
(When I was meditating this morning by lake consiston, a thought came to me providing clarity on this.)
Imagine a knife edge balancing on the peak of a mountain. Imagine yourself standing on that knife edge. That is Your attention. It is balancing on that edge constantly. When we remain on that edge we are balanced. We are present. But how do we stay on it without falling down the mountain?
We meditate first thing in the morning. This anchors us in the present.
You see the mind, does not like the present moment. Simply because no thinking can exist there. There is no mental activity when we are fully present, and so the mind projects us into an imaginary future (usually with worry as its main weapon). Or it tries to steal our attention by taking us to a past event (typically in the form of a regret or shame).
So what role does mediation play in all this?
Well, every time you meditate you start to see how powerful the mind is. How much control it has over you (me/us). It will throw everything at you in order for you to stop meditating. Random thoughts, dark thoughts, fears, doubts, insecurities.... But if you don't engage with them. If you observe them and recognize that's just what the mind does.... You begin to judge yourself less in day to day life. You also begin to judge others less and less.
You start to cultivate ease, joy and an under current of permanent peace in yourself.
This peace is felt by all those around you, and it gives them permission to be at ease also.
Mediation is not easy, and it must be a continuous lifelong practice. But since when was anything easy worth starting.
We have 70'000 thoughts a day and 90% of them are the same as the day before. If you wonder why you keep self sabotaging it's because you're not being present. Pay attention to the present moment. Uproot anxiety and sew seeds of serenity.
There are many different ways to meditate. I am not going to tell you which way to start.
With time, and through trial and error, you will find the right route for you.
